Gordon has been playing guitar professionally in the Bay Area for five years. A full time teacher, he specializes in electric, classical and steel-string acoustic guitar, as well as playing barritone, bass and seven-string guitar. Gordon teaches private and group guitar lessons, jazz band and general music, and is the in-house guitar teacher for Menlo High School. He has written a 40-page instructional manual that accompanies lessons with his private students and second-year guitar program students. A regular in the original music scene, he has played with Lot 49, Gene Pool, Blue (with Loring Jones of the Mo'fessionals and Jim Alcivar of Ronnie Montrose), Crash Carnival and is currently the guitarist for One Velvet Down, one of San Francisco's hottest new bands (www.onevelvetdown.com for more info). Prior to moving to the Bay Area, he played with Headset in Santa Fe, NM and was the leader of the Swanky Modes in San Diego, CA. He has been playing for 17 years and studied with rock virtuoso Joe Satriani while growing up in Berkeley, CA. Gordon has also studied music theory, recording science and jazz improvisation at the University of California, San Diego. He has been teaching for eleven years and helps develop an appreciation for and understanding of music in all his students. |
